Companies most frequently use networking with friends, colleagues, and professional associations as a way of finding the right candidates for the job according to a survey conducted by HumCap. “Companies use networking more than any other candidate search outlet because it is cost effective and produces great results,” says McIntosh.

The same survey showed that large companies (more than 200 employees) were more likely to use general job boards and social networking sites than small companies. “Large companies usually have a larger HR staff which gives them the ability to have the time to update and administer the online job boards like CareerBuilder and Monster, and social networking sites like Facebook and Myspace,” says McIntosh.

Networking groups like GeekMeet, Metroplex Technology Business Council, Dallas Blue, and Chamber events could help in your search. There are tons of groups out there for all different types of skill-sets. Finding the right group could bring you one step closer to finding your new job.
